National Park Service Mobile
JANUARY 2021

This mobile is a 3D information graphic about the history of the National Park Service. To interpret it please see the key in the second photo. In his book, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, Dayton Duncan recounts this story: “A man came up to Yosemite and the ranger was sitting at the front gate and the man said, ‘I’ve only got one hour to see Yosemite. If you only had one hour to see Yosemite, what would you do?’ And the ranger said, ‘Well, I’d go right over there, and I’d sit on that rock, and I’d cry.’” This mobile is an anthem to the countless hours I’ve been blessed with in the national parks. The wood I used in this mobile is collected from Redwood National Park, the first park I remember visiting.
